The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism promotes digital transformation
Digital transformation is an inevitable trend and objective requirement of development in today’s era, opening up opportunities for countries to make breakthroughs. In Vietnam, the transformation process is taking place very strongly and widely in all areas of social life.
Building, developing and sharing digital data of the Culture, Sports and Tourism (VHTTDL) industry is no exception to that flow. Recently, under the direction of the Ministry’s leaders, the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector has been strongly promoting the construction, development and sharing of digital data of the sector.
According to Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, digital resources are one of the great resources that any country needs to focus on managing and exploiting to turn this resource into a driving force for economic development, positively contributing to overall growth.

Recently, implementing the Party’s guidelines, policies and laws of the State, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has focused on implementing the task of digital transformation and considered this an inevitable requirement in the process of developing the digital economy, green economy, and circular economy that the Government has directed.
From a management perspective, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has advised and submitted to the Government permission to form hard infrastructure in information technology issues, promulgate strategies and plans to digitize a number of fields such as libraries, tourism, heritage…
Following the directive documents of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Information and Communications on data, up to this point, the Project to build a national database on cadres, civil servants and public employees in state agencies. Up to now, on the system of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector, 6,290 accounts have been created for cadres, civil servants and public employees of units to declare records and have completed 100% connection and synchronization to the Database system. National data on civil servants and public employees.
In 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has reviewed, edited and supplemented incorrect and missing information fields about cadres, civil servants and public employees in synchronization with the national database on cadres, civil servants and public employees to ensure that the data is True – Sufficient – Clean – Live.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong said that up to now, agencies and units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have initially digitized and standardized existing data of a number of fields of culture, sports and tourism to gradually form a shared database of the industry such as digitizing data and updating cultural heritage information in Management Information System software deployed nationwide; Digitizing festival data in Vietnam; Tourism database and core information systems create the foundation for building an e-Government towards building and managing a digital Government for the tourism sector; Digitize, convert, and standardize the Ministry’s database of records and administrative procedure resolution results.
After completing the survey of databases of agencies and units under the Ministry, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has built 17 shared databases according to general regulations on database construction and 38 specialized databases of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Of these, 23 open databases need to be updated regularly, every 6 months, ensuring the database is accurate and complete.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Lan, Director of the Information Technology Center, the agency responsible for digital transformation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that one of the top priorities in the coming time, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will focus on perfecting solutions to ensure network information security to protect industry databases.
In particular, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism focuses on upgrading the information security infrastructure system and ensuring information security in projects and plans such as: Plan to maintain environmental operations to meet national database connection on population (Project 06) – by 2024 and by 2025, it is expected to complete 2 projects, which are: “Data processing and integration platform project in the culture, sports and tourism industry.” calendar” and Project on building a platform and database for managing, protecting and promoting cultural heritage values.
In response to National Digital Transformation Day, October 1, 2024 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to organize a workshop: “Orientations for database development in the Culture, Sports, Tourism and Family sector”.
This is the second time, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung assigned the IT Center – the agency in charge of Digital Transformation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize the conference. The first conference was successfully held in 2022 with the theme: “Digital Transformation Conference – Workshop in the Culture, Sports and Tourism Industry”.
The conference is a forum for experts, managers, policy makers, and businesses to exchange and discuss issues related to database development in the Culture, Sports, Tourism and Family sectors.
