What new upgrades will the Galaxy S25 Ultra have?

Galaxy S25 Ultra is one of the most anticipated flagship models next year. As the successor to the highly rated Galaxy S24 Ultra, it is expected to bring many innovations and new technologies. Below is a summary of the latest rumors and leaks about Samsung’s next blockbuster.

Design and display

Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to be one of the thinnest flagship smartphones in 2025, with dimensions of 162.8 x 77.6 x 8.2 mm. In terms of weight, it is said to be lighter than the Pixel 9 Pro XL, which weighs 221 grams. Therefore, it is likely that the device will weigh between 210 and 220 grams.

The design of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, leaked by a few leakers like @UniverseIce and @OnLeaks has a flat glass front and back, a titanium frame, and curved corners to enhance grip. However, in terms of appearance, the device will not be significantly different from the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The device is expected to feature a 6.86-inch flat AMOLED display with thinner bezels than its predecessor, creating a sleeker appearance. The screen will support 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. With tempered glass and improved dust and water resistance, the Galaxy S25 Ultra promises high durability and premium design.

Performance

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for Galaxy chip, an overclocked version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Although there is no specific information about RAM configuration and storage capacity, it seems that the device will have up to 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 memory, similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

According to reports, the battery capacity and charging capabilities will remain unchanged. Like previous generation Ultra models, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will have a 5,000mAh battery and support 45W fast charging. The device will also support wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

Camera system

Currently, there is no information about the front camera of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, it is possible that the device will retain the 12 megapixel camera from its predecessor. There are rumors that the device will inherit the main camera and periscope telephoto camera from the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Therefore, the rear camera set is expected to have a 200-megapixel main camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. Both cameras support optical image stabilization (OIS).

The major upgrade is expected to be in the ultra wide-angle and telephoto cameras. Software and other features

Samsung often introduces new versions of One UI along with new flagships. So, the Galaxy S25 series is expected to come with One UI 7 based on Android 15. The new One UI version is expected to bring new animations, new system icons, new background skins, larger folder support, new Galaxy AI feature and much more. Hopefully, like the Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy S25 series will receive up to 7 years of OS upgrades and 7 years of security updates.

With the “Ultra” branding, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to come with S Pen support. However, it is unclear whether this stylus will have any new features. The Chinese version of the device will support satellite connectivity and it is likely that the global version will also have this feature.

Rumors about the Galaxy S25 Note

The Galaxy S25 series is expected to include three devices: Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, there are some reports suggesting changing the name of Galaxy S25 Plus to Galaxy S25 Pro. Conversely, it is also possible that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be renamed Galaxy S25 Note.

Galaxy S25 Ultra launch time
