Steps to complete chapter 1 Poppy Playtime

Blue tape (Optional)

After watching the opening video for Poppy Playtime, players will have control over their character. Go to the reception desk and take the blue tape off the desk using the interaction button. Pass the tape over to the TV and Green VCR on the right side of the desk. Put the tape in the VCR and watch the video.

Unlock the security door puzzle

Once you’ve watched the video, go right and enter the Gift Shop. Inside the Gift Shop, look up at the ceiling to see a train running on suspended tracks. Record the colors seen on the train.

Then leave the store and return to the reception area to enter Security. Here everyone will find a locked door with a chromatic keypad. Press the colors on the train to open the door. The color order to open the door is green > pink > yellow > red. Upon entering the colors listed above, the door will be unlocked. Go through the door into the Security Office.

Blue tape and blue GrabPack location

Enter the Security Office and go to the desk. Grab the blue tape by interacting with it and place it in the nearby Blue VCR. Watch the video and tape introducing how to use the hand (GrabPack) that the player will get. These GrabPacks are important because they are used to solve most of the puzzles encountered in chapter 1.

When the video ends, the blue GrabPack container will open. Approach and interact with it to equip your character.

Enter the lobby

Once you have the green GrabPack, return to the reception area. Jump across the front desk turn to reach the door with the blue hand above it. Shoot the blue GrabPack at the switch to open the door. This door leads to the factory and begins the scary part of the game.

Playtime factory lobby

Inside the lobby, players will see a few interesting things. First, and most prominent, is a large toy creature named Huggy Wuggy in the center of the room. Huggy Wuggy is a toy that chases the player throughout the chapter. The second thing is the 7 doors in this room. These doors lead to different areas of the factory.

Before going through any doors, grab the yellow key to the electrical room dangling from the giant toy hand with the blue GrabPack. To do this, shoot the blue door to the left. The door will not open because there is no electricity. When doing this, the yellow key will fall, use your hand to grab it.

Once you have the yellow key, go to the door labeled Power. Go through the door and into the electrical room. Inside this room, players need to get the power back up and running.

Turn the power back on

In the Power room, go to the end to find a covered socket. Use the blue GrabPack to open this cover on the outlet. Once the socket is open, shoot the blue GrabPack into the exposed socket. Grab the blue GrabPack there and go around the two electrical poles in the room leading to the front. Doing this correctly will turn the power back on.

When the power is on, return to the lobby area. Players will see that Huggy Wuggy has disappeared. From this point on, the player will encounter the monster while exploring other rooms of the building.

The next stop is through the blue door that I tried to open earlier but there was no power. Open it now and go through it. Go down the hallway, through the door on the left, and down the dark hallway into the next area.

Find the red GrabPack

Go down the hallway until you see a room with the number 05. This area requires going up the stairs and seeing a crane with a control panel to operate it. The only problem is that the fuses are gone.

Everyone needs to find those fuses. Players will see a blue fuse next to the control panel, a red fuse on the floor. The yellow and green ones are hiding in some boxes further out in the area.

Once all 4 fuses are present, go back and power up the panel. Players can now use the crane to drag the glass box onto the conveyor belt. Once completed, the player will have a red GrabPack in hand.

Yellow Tape (Optional)

If you want to get all the VHS tapes, there’s a roll in the room with a red GrabPack. The yellow tape can be found on the second shelf near the door. Go behind the first shelf to get it.

Once you get hold of the red GrabPack and the VHS tape, leave the factory area. If you try to return to the lobby, it will be impossible.

Instead, players need to use the newly unlocked red GrabPack. Use both hands to open the door on the conveyor belt, then go down until you slide down to the area below.

Complete the conveyor belt circuit puzzle

At the bottom of the conveyor belt, people will get stuck. To advance it, gamers need to complete a circuit.

Right at the landing, turn right and walk along the conveyor belt until you reach a ramp leading up.

Go up this ramp and look to the right to see an outlet. Use one hand to fire into the socket (keeping the connection intact). Turn around and walk down the ramp to get around the pole.

Return to the entrance and head towards the door. Look left and shoot the socket there to complete the circuit. You will automatically move forward along the belt. Ride the belt until you reach the last room.

Friendship room

This room will be inactive until power is restored. To do this, go up the stairs to the catwalk above and use one hand to pull it towards you, to cover the gap.

Pink ribbon (Optional)

Once the gap to the catwalk is covered, the player can walk across it to reach an outlet. Before doing that, if you look to the right side of the wall, you will see a square pink VHS tape painted blue. Grab the tape if you want and use the Pink VCR to watch it.

Complete the catwalk circuit circuit puzzle

Go forward to the socket, ignore it and move towards the middle of the catwalk. Turn right to see another draggable catwalk.

Pull the catwalk towards you to create a shortcut to the pole. Return to the socket and connect to it. Walk to the right towards the socket you need to connect to. Use your other hand to pull the catwalk to create a new shortcut. Wrap around both poles as shown above and attach to the socket to complete the puzzle.

Make friends and Huggy Wuggy starts chasing

With the power back on, head back up the stairs. Now the machinery below is running. Press the button Make A Friend on the control panel in the middle of the room.

When this button is pressed, the room’s machinery comes to life. Look to the left of the control panel and pull the 3 levers and wait for the pieces to move. Take the toy and place it on the scale next to the door with the sign “Nobody leaves without making a toy” and this door will open.

Go through the open door and prepare yourself. From this point on, Huggy Wuggy will start chasing people. Go forward into the dark hallway. The creature will appear from the shadows as you get closer to it. Immediately turn around and run to the end of the conveyor belt where Make A Friend is. Run through the vent while the door is open.

At the end of the chase, everyone will end up on the catwalk with nowhere to go. Above the catwalk is a yellow crate. Use both hands to pull it down. Huggy Wuggy will appear and the barrel will fall on it.

Catwalk and end the game

On the catwalk, walk towards the door with flowers around without worrying about any threats.

Gray tape (Optional)

Along the main path on the catwalk, the player will find the gray tape, located at the last fork that needs to be taken to reach the flower door.

Go through the flower door, along the hallways until you reach the last room. Here, you will see a doll in the center, which is Poppy.

How to escape Huggy Wuggy – boss in chapter 1 of Poppy Playtime

As soon as the toy is finished, Poppy Playtime indicates that the player can now exit. However, Huggy Wuggy will not let this happen so easily. People won’t be able to fight it, so this is a possible way to escape.

Turn and run to the conveyor belt where the red GrabPack is found. Everyone will see an entrance, run down until you reach the intersection. Since Huggy Wuggy will come from the other end, the player needs to turn right.

A conveyor belt will appear soon but it cannot be climbed. To the left is a hole that people can fall into. Then go to the new area of the factory, but broken machinery will block the way. Turn right, go straight and look for a small entrance on the left.

After crouching down at the entrance, run until you see a door. Wait a moment and the door lifts. Now it’s time to run as fast as possible to some cardboard boxes.

When I turned around, I looked up and saw a block with several hands painted in different colors. Use both hands to clap quickly so it falls to the floor. Doing so will knock out Huggy Wuggy, leaving the player free to escape.
