What’s special about iPhone 18?
iPhone 18 Expected to be released in 2026 with many unique changes. So iPhone 18 What’s special and worth looking forward to? Below is the latest information about iPhone 18.
iPhone 18 release date
Based on Apple’s established launch schedule, the iPhone 18 series is expected to launch in September 2026, possibly around September 8 if previous announcements are accurate.
Below is the announcement schedule for recent iPhone models:
- iPhone 17: September 9, 2025
- iPhone 16: September 9, 2024
- iPhone 15: September 12, 2023
- iPhone 14: September 7, 2022
- iPhone 13: September 14, 2021
- iPhone 12: October 13, 2020 (postponed due to Covid)
Typically, pre-orders for the device begin the Friday after the announcement date, and the phone ships a week later.
However, it seems like there will be a change in 2026. Leaked information suggests that Apple may separate the announcement and launch times of iPhone 18 models.
Under this scenario, the high-end models – the expected foldable iPhone, iPhone Pro and Pro Max – will launch as usual in September. But the basic iPhone 18 and low-cost iPhone 18e will launch at an event in spring 2027. It has not yet been confirmed at which event the iPhone Air 2 is likely to launch.
The latest rumors about the supply chain suggest that the design of the folding screen model has been finalized and is undergoing technical tests before mass production.
Price of iPhone 18
The price of the iPhone 18 may be affected by current tariffs. For folding screen iPhones, the suggested starting price ranges from $1,999 to $2,500, and the latest figure is $2,399. Pricing is rumored to be based on analyst estimates and current manufacturing costs of the components including the hinge, plus supply chain rumors and market factors. Therefore, these numbers change frequently.
However, the folding iPhone is expected to cost the same or more than the Samsung Z Fold 7. The Z Fold 7 starts at $1,999 in the US, while it starts at £1,799 in the UK.
There is currently no official information about the price of iPhone 18.
Which model will Apple release?
As usual, the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are advanced versions, and the iPhone Fold will almost certainly appear.
The latest information about the supply chain further confirms this, with reports that Apple has perfected the design of its folding phone, solving the difficult problem of screen creases. Meanwhile, many other leaked information seems to have confirmed the screen details of other models.
What we don’t know yet, however, is which iPhone 18 models will be available in September 2026. Currently, the prediction is that the Pro, Pro Max, and Fold versions will launch at that time, while the base iPhone 18 model will launch alongside the 18e version in the spring.
Configuration and outstanding features of iPhone 18
Design
The design of the iPhone typically remains unchanged from year to year, and current rumors suggest this trend will continue. The screen sizes of the three phones appear to remain the same – 6.3 and 6.9 inches respectively – with a few minor design differences in the rear camera cluster. An informant on Weibo also hinted that Apple’s brightness requirements are very strict, which could lead to OLED supply problems. This makes some people suspect that its screen will be much brighter.
The standard iPhone 18 is rumored to have a smaller camera cluster than its predecessor, while the Pro and Pro Max versions will retain the wider “plateau” to accommodate the three rear cameras. The Pro version is expected to have a stainless steel vapor chamber and transparent glass that could help improve heat dissipation.
The phones are once again expected to feature durable ceramic and titanium components – but Apple may consider replacing the anodized coating currently used on the aluminum iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models with a more scratch-resistant material.
Folding iPhone
This is the iPhone 18 model that is most interested in currently. Apple’s top priority is to eliminate the crease on the screen when the phone is opened. The Fold’s internal screen is Samsung’s design, but the hinge, panel structure and lamination method are all Apple’s. And it is this hinge design that prevents permanent creases in the screen.
Samsung Display showed off a concept phone with a fold-free display at CES, and according to rumors, it uses technology developed for Apple.
In addition, the latest leaked information shows that users can expect a fairly large folding phone, with a 7.58-inch main screen and a 5.25-inch external screen. The screen will be unlocked via the Touch ID button on the side to help keep the device slim.
