How to use Claude Connectors
Claude Connectors are MCP servers that extend Claude’s capabilities. Below are detailed instructions How to use Claude Connectors.
What are Claude Connectors?
Connector – Connector allows Claude to access your applications and services, retrieve data, and perform actions in connected services. Claude inherits each user’s permissions from the connected service. If someone can’t access a particular file, channel, or record in the source system, the connector can’t access them from Claude either.
For example, you can connect Claude to Linear to create issues, to Slack to send messages, or to Google Drive to search your files. Connectors work across Claude, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and API (via MCP Connector).
You can find available connectors in the Connectors Directory, where each connector has a page detailing each of its use cases, read/write capabilities, and availability. You can also add custom connectors or connect to any service that supports MCP.
There are two styles of Claude Connectors, including:
- Standard connectors Provides tools for returning data. Claude calls that engine, gets the structured data, and uses it in the text response. A standard connector that links Claude to your issue tracking system will allow Claude to search for issue tickets and describe them in text.
- Interactive connectors also includes MCP application resources: React components that render the user interface inside the chat. Instead of describing an incident ticket in text, Claude displays your component as a visual card with status badges, assignee avatars, and action buttons. In Connectors Directory, interactive connectors are marked with badges Interactive, For example: Figma, Canva, Asana and Slack…
