Samsung launched The Frame Pro: also Mini-LED but it’s very strange
In 2025, Samsung is looking to fend off imitators by introducing The Frame Pro. For a long time, Samsung’s The Frame TVs have done well in the artistic aspect, creating TVs with style and aesthetics. But as a TV, Frame TVs so far have only had normal image quality. That may change with the new The Frame Pro TV.
The Frame Pro uses edge-lit Mini-LED, not from behind the screen like conventional Mini-LED TVs.
According to technology site The Verge, there are two main upgrades included in The Frame Pro TV line. First, Samsung introduced Mini LED technology helps enhance contrast, brightness, and black levels.
However, this is not Mini LED in the usual sense. Typically, Mini LED TVs are full array LED TVs that contain many small dimming areas behind the screen. This gives the TV more precise control over lighting the parts of the screen that need to be lit while preserving black levels and shadow detail elsewhere.
The Frame Pro doesn’t do that. Instead, Samsung placed Mini LED at the bottom of the screen like edge-LED TVs. In simple terms, this is still an edge-lit TV but the LEDs are scaled down to Mini-LEDs. The company claims that this approach still produces some level of local dimming, but don’t expect local dimming quality to be as optimal as behind-the-screen local dimming. Perhaps we have to wait until we have a chance to experience it in real life to evaluate it fairly.
Like recent models, The Frame Pro’s display has a matte finish to display artwork that looks more natural and realistic. But a dim screen can sometimes reduce the display intensity of the screen, so the Mini LED backlight can help quite a bit in this regard.
The Frame Pro TV also increases the screen refresh rate from 120Hz to 144Hz. As a result, PC gamers can get smoother visuals than before. But if you hope this TV will support Dolby Vision, the answer is still no.
The Wireless One Connect Box can connect to the TV within a range of 10 meters
The second major innovation is The Frame Pro TV There is no longer a small wire connecting the TV to the Connect Box containing the connection ports. Now, The Frame Pro has a completely wireless connection box to the TV called Wireless One Connect Box. This will make setting up your TV neater. Wireless One Connect Box supports up to Wi-Fi 7. Thus, this TV only needs to hide one second as the TV’s power source. Samsung says the wireless connection between the box and the TV works at a distance of up to 10 meters, “even when there are obstacles in the way”.
You can plug a game console or other device into the Wireless One Connect Box
The Frame Pro will also have AI-powered features like Samsung’s other 2025 TVs. AI is so central to 2025 TVs that there’s a dedicated button on the remote to activate the “Click to Search” feature, which can tell you “which actor in a certain scene is who, where the scene takes place or even what the characters are wearing,” according to Samsung’s press release.
A new feature of Samsung Food can recognize dishes on the screen and give you recipes to prepare them or at least a similar recipe. Additionally, the company is enhancing image and audio optimization using AI, and AI is also reaching out to accessibility features like Live Translate, which can “instantly translate hidden subtitles on live broadcasts.” into up to seven languages”.
Samsung has not yet announced the specific sale date of The Frame Pro TV.
