Put on the "scale" Toyota Vios 2021, Honda City 2021 and Nissan Sunny 2021: Vios is the most valuable car model

The appearance of the new facelifted Toyota Vios is making the race in the B-class sedan segment in Southeast Asia hotter, as rival Honda City was also upgraded a few days after the Vios and the new Nissan Sunny just launched in Malaysia in early November. And in the near future, the Vietnamese market will also be introduced to upgraded versions of the three “hottest” names in the B-class sedan segment.

Therefore, we will try to compare the specifications and equipment of the highest version Vios, City and Sunny (equivalent prices) in the Malaysian market to see which model will dominate in the new version and be able to attract more customers.

Specifications

In Malaysia, the top variant of Toyota Vios 2021 will have full features and equipment, the starting price is estimated at RM 90,400 (~ VND 510 million), RM 3,100 (~ VND 17.5 million) higher than the previous highest-end Vios.

The new Toyota Vios still uses the 2NR-FE 1.5L engine combined with a CVT gearbox, producing 107 horsepower and maximum torque of 140 Nm.

Meanwhile, Honda City (highest version) is the model with the lowest price among the three cars (about 489 million VND), but is the most powerful and robust. The car is equipped with a 1.5L 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine with a capacity of 119 horsepower and 145 Nm, accompanied by a CVT gearbox.

As for the Nissan Sunny (Almera), this is the most expensive car of the three compared, at RM91,300 (~ VND 515 million) for the top Turbo VLT. The car was also just introduced an upgraded version for the Malaysian market in early November.

Even though it only has a 1.0L turbocharged engine, producing a maximum capacity of 99 horsepower and 152 Nm of torque, combined with a CVT gearbox, the new Sunny still feels smooth when driving. On the other hand, the most advanced version of Sunny also possesses many features, completely worthy of the accompanying price.

Toyota Vios is a high-value car model

In terms of equipment, City is much weaker than Vios and Sunny. Continuing to compare safety features, Vios is superior to Sunny.

Specifically, Vios 1.5G 2021 possesses a series of utilities such as ABS anti-lock braking system, EBD electronic brake force distribution system, electronic balance system, automatic emergency brake assist system, hill start assist system, reversing camera, 7 airbags, 2 driving modes Eco and Sport right on the steering wheel, 360 degree 3D camera instead of 2D as before, blind spot monitoring, blind spot warning when back…

Automatic emergency braking is also standard on all new Nissan Sunnys, and the range-topping VLT also has blind-spot monitoring, reverse blind-spot warning and forward collision avoidance assist.

Meanwhile, the gasoline-powered Honda City 1.5V has the same price as the two most high-end versions of Sunny and Vios but lacks many driving assistance features. The Honda Sensing ADAS active safety suite is only available for the RS hybrid but this variant will cost around RM 100,000 (~ VND 564 million).

In addition, the Toyota Vios facelift is also equipped with an infotainment system that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as does the City, and the Sunny is only compatible with Apple CarPlay.

However, the new Vios has a feature that neither of the other two competitors have, which is a smart wireless charger, often found on more expensive and larger models. This option will cost around RM550 (~ VND 3.1 million), making the Vios the only B-segment sedan in Malaysia with a wireless charger.

In general, Toyota Vios, Honda City and Nissan Sunny all have their own advantages and disadvantages, attracting many different customers. City is for those who want an attractive, sporty ride while Sunny is more suitable for those who like comfort, and Vios is a good choice for those who need a car that combines both factors. Toyota Vios is also a reliable car with enough safety and convenience features and is very good value for money.
