Over the past 5 years, the light truck market has experienced sudden growth in Vietnam. The increasing demand for transporting goods causes many businesses to choose a small van instead of having to hire a separate transport unit to optimize costs. Furthermore, with the change in regulations prohibiting freight vehicles from entering the city during peak hours, van trucks with a load capacity of less than 500 kg can freely operate in the city without being banned by the hour. Launched at the end of December 2019, TMT K05S has attracted great attention from Vietnamese customers. Practical design

Regarding exterior design, TMT K05S has an extremely practical design. The cabin is shaped relatively long with a large windshield that is tilted to reduce wind resistance. The steering wheel surface is designed to be large with 2 separate floors to reduce wind resistance as well as increase the engine’s cooling capacity.

The halogen headlight cluster has also been improved compared to the previous product generation with a 10cm larger reflector, providing better lighting. Another advantage of TMT K05S is the built-in fog light cluster to help drivers drive safer when driving in rain or fog. In general, the front of the vehicle still has a neat design and function, less “rough” like other van models in the same segment as the TMT K05S.

The body of the TMT K05S vehicle has a square design to optimize space for passengers as well as goods. The car has the largest wheelbase in the segment, up to 2,760 mm. The large wheelbase helps the K05S have a much larger cabin and cargo compartment than its competitors. Besides the optimal wheelbase, all other dimensions of the K05S are also better than other van models in the price range under 300 million VND.

Specifically, the car has an overall length of 4,070 mm, width of 1,560 mm, height of 1,900 mm. TMT K05S has a ground clearance of 140 mm. This level of ground clearance is carefully calculated to make loading or unloading goods more convenient, suitable for the physique of Vietnamese people to minimize effort and increase driver comfort. The car is also equipped with 13-inch wheels with thick tire walls to increase comfort as well as minimize the risk of tire damage when going on bad roads.

The interior compartment of TMT K05S is designed in a simple style and is easy to use. The vehicle is equipped with two-tone felt seats with a body-hugging design similar to passenger car seats, providing better comfort than the flat seats of some other pickup models in the segment. Both the driver’s seat and passenger seat can be adjusted in 3 directions. TMT also arranges a series of storage compartments around the cabin to help drivers store personal items needed for long trips. Particularly, the storage compartment under the dashboard is equipped with a safety lock to store valuables.

In particular, TMT K05S is available with a 2-way air conditioning system. This is very valuable equipment for drivers who often drive long distances. TMT K05S is also available with a 7-inch infotainment screen with full Bluetooth, AM/FM, USB connectivity.

The second row of seats has very spacious and comfortable legroom for 3 adults. However, while the front glass doors are electrically adjustable, the glass doors in the second row are only mechanically adjusted with a rotary lever. This row of seats can be folded flat or removed to increase storage area when needed. The car floor is covered with a layer of aluminum with anti-slip patterns, very convenient when you need to store many objects in the interior compartment.

In particular, the cargo box is separated from the cabin by a partition with glass doors. This design helps optimize the cooling capacity of the air conditioning system, while also preventing the smell of goods carried on the vehicle from entering the cabin. It can be seen that the TMT K05S is a very versatile vehicle, able to carry 5 people on board and a lot of goods in separate compartments.

Realistic experience

Even though I’m so used to driving a car, it didn’t take me long to get used to the TMT K05S. The steering wheel has a three-spoke design and the rim is relatively thick and fits comfortably in the hand. The clock cluster is not too beautiful but provides enough necessary information. The two things I like most about the interior of the K05S are that TMT has equipped this car with an Android screen, in addition to a mechanical air conditioning system. Only mechanical adjustment, but the air conditioning system is also an advantage of TMT K05S when compared to competitors of the same range.

And the Android screen is responsive and sounds better than I expected, much better than the Tata Super Ace truck I experienced a while ago! The seats of the K05S are also relatively comfortable. The car is also equipped with electric windows, although you still have to adjust the mirrors manually.

TMT K05S is equipped with a 4-cylinder in-line gasoline engine with a capacity of 1342 cc, producing a maximum capacity of 87 horsepower. This is a very suitable capacity for a van with a self-weight of only approximately 1 ton. The car has a 5-speed automatic transmission that is superior to the 4-speed gearbox of competitors in the same segment, plus a rear-wheel drive system, so the performance of the TMT K05S is very optimal. The car also possesses electronic fuel injection technology to help save more fuel. According to data announced by the manufacturer, TMT K05S only consumes 7.5 liters of gasoline for 100 km of travel when idling. To me, these are very good parameters for a van priced at only 268 million VND.

With a full cargo box behind me and 4 adults in the car, I began the journey through each street. The turning radius of only 5 meters makes the TMT K05S extremely flexible in urban environments. Most times when turning, I only need “1 red”. The car’s clutch pedal is adjusted very gently, so even if I drive slowly in traffic jams, my legs don’t get too tired. A colleague of mine suddenly got inspired to go out to see the sights. So with that same van that could carry more than 500 kg of goods, we traveled to the banks of the Red River without encountering any difficulties. Of course, you can also go to work and go out with an SUV or pickup truck like the Ford Ranger, but none of the above cars has a selling price of 268 million VND like the TMT K05S.

A transport vehicle is essential equipment for small business families and even professional transport businesses. They are compact, flexible, fuel efficient, can carry many people and can go in and out of the city 24/7. The TMT K05S is a van worth choosing because of the above advantages and above all, with a price of only 268 million VND, no van can bring as much value for every dollar you spend as the TMT K05S.
