Voice commentary

Voice Comments allows users to record and post voice messages up to 60 seconds long right below the video instead of typing text. Usage is as follows:

TikTok explains this feature based on the platform’s core emphasis on audio: “Sound and music have shaped TikTok since its early days… Now we’re bringing that spirit to comments with Voice Commenting.” This feature will roll out globally in October; however, at least initially, TikTok limits usage to accounts of users 18 years of age or older. The feature was already available to a limited group of users before the official announcement, and the latest TikTok update will roll it out globally to all creators.

Comment with a series of photos

The Photo Carousel Comments feature has increased the limit to nine photos per comment, essentially turning a comment into a small-scale standalone photo post instead of just a simple image attachment. This feature will be deployed globally in October 2026, at the same time as the voice comment feature.

Comment feature using Live Photo

Live Photo commenting adds a brief motion to the photo in the comment, giving scrolling users a short animated preview of the moment before they tap to see the full still photo; This mechanism is similar to the Live Photo feature on the photo library of modern smartphones. Unlike voice comments and photo thread comments, this feature is available globally now instead of rolling out gradually over the next month.
