Genshin Impact: Instructions to get all characters for free

Beautifully designed characters are one of the biggest attractions of Genshin Impact. Many players want to collect as many characters as possible in their collection. However, Genshin Impact players start the game with only the Traveler as the main character. Besides that, people can also get three free 4-star characters just by completing the starting missions. Lisa, Amber, Kaeya are the first characters players receive, then Barbara and Xiangling are also given for free.

So, before you prepare to invest Primogem in many expensive characters, here’s how to get all the characters for free in Genshin Impact.

Traveler

When first starting Genshin Impact, players will be given a choice between a pair of male or female twins. This is The Traveler, and they are everyone’s main characters. But that doesn’t mean gamers need to bring them with them to their party all the time. If they need to appear for a cutscene or conversation, they will appear even if they are in the player’s party.

Traveler starts out as an Anemo character, but upon exploring a bit more, gamers will unlock the Geo version of the character. People can switch between these two elements by visiting a statue. Even though The Traveler is technically a 5-star character, his skills and strength are pretty average.

Amber

Following the Traveler, Amber is the first playable character added to the party. Everyone just needs to follow Paimon’s instructions and get the Outrider of the Knights of Favonius on their way to Mondstadt.

Amber can be useful in the early game as she can damage opponents with Pyro skills and solve torch-related puzzles. However, players should only focus on building Amber if they really like her because this character is considered the lowest tier in Genshin Impact’s character level.

Kaeya

Next in Genshin Impact’s free character pool is Kaeya. Once you reach Mondstadt, you will be able to participate in many missions in the city. Crash Course is among those missions and Kaeya is the reward for completion.

During this quest, Aether/Lumine will meet Kaeya Alberich at a temple. Players will receive a tutorial on the Cavalry Captain and his Cryo Vision. He is available as a trial in the domain for Crash Course, and Kaeya will be permanently on the character roster once the domain is removed.

Lisa

In the prologue, Lisa will be the last free character for beginner players. People can get librarians in the same way as Kaeya. Lisa will appear in another quest called Sparks Between the Pages at the Temple of the Lion.

Players can use Lisa as a test character in this domain. Once she has managed to clear the domain, she will also be added to the list and act one of the Prologue will also be completed.

Barbara

At Adventure Rank 18, those who can complete the A Long Shot quest will receive Barbara without paying a dime. This Archon quest is among many available in the storyline. To get her, players must defeat Dvalin and save Mondstadt from the fearsome dragon.

Xiangling

Xiangling is in fact the best character in Genshin Impact’s free characters list when it comes to gameplay. After reaching Adventure Rank 20, players will gain access to the People’s Choice event. The requirement to own the character Xiangling is to complete Floor 3, Room 3 of Spiral Abyss.

For completing this challenge, everyone will be rewarded with Xiangling – a vibrant chef who can be a great Pyro secondary DPS fighter in the battle group.

Aloy

Aloy is a Cryo character who uses a bow and arrow and was the first cooperative character added to Genshin Impact. She has a constellation to enhance her stats, but since there are no multipliers it remains locked. To upgrade Aloy, people need items from Inazuma, meaning the player’s Adventurer Rank must be level 30 or higher. She requires Crystalline Blooms, Crystal Marrow, and Spectral Husks to ascend.

If you play Genshin Impact on PC or mobile, you can unlock Aloy immediately by claiming her from your mailbox. Players will need to log in before the 2.3 maintenance update on November 24, 2021 to receive Aloy, according to the 2.1 patch notes. She will then stay in the mailbox for a year before she expires, so make sure to collect Aloy before then.

If playing on PS4 or PS5, the time to get Aloy has passed when update 2.2 was released. PlayStation players need to log in during patch 2.1 to get her into their mailbox.

If you logged in during this time but didn’t receive Aloy, she’s most likely in your mailbox, so be sure to check it. It is currently unknown whether Aloy will be made available to PlayStation users again.

The following list includes the names of the characters that players can use for a limited time. All of these characters are in the 4-star group and can be obtained after completing some special missions or participating in seasonal activities.
