Actor Hong Dang - I'm pragmatic, I choose Vinfast

Vinfast is truly a phenomenon in the Vietnamese car industry. Unlike some other car companies – which often choose the solution of “stepping” into this potential car market, Vinfast immediately invested in a billion-dollar factory and immediately launched 3 commercial car models. Because of Vinfast’s unique strategy, Vietnamese people also accept this completely Vietnamese car brand in different ways. Some people immediately spent money, some criticized, and some were secretly happy because Vietnam had a “monumental” car brand.

Now, after more than 3 years since the Vinfast brand was created, the Vietnamese car company has quickly created a place in the hearts of customers. Last November, out of a total of 4,040 VinFast cars sold on the market, there were 2,816 Fadil cars, 676 Lux A2.0 cars and 548 Lux SA2.0 cars. This is a quite significant number in the current volatile economic situation. That shows that Vinfast cars are really attractive to customers because now, they no longer buy cars because of “national spirit”. The Covid epidemic makes people consider more carefully when spending money and there are still more than 500 people buying Vinfast Lux SA2.0. So what is attractive about this car model?

Perhaps we will have the most accurate answer when we directly ask this question to those who actually buy and use Vinfast Lux SA cars. One of them is actor Hong Dang, a familiar face to Vietnamese television viewers. He shared: “I was fortunate to be one of the first people to experience Vinfast Lux SA on the journey to Ha Giang. This 1,000 km journey gave me a profound experience with a Vietnamese car through all types of terrain, from highways and concrete roads to dirt roads and mountain passes. Only by using the car in such realistic and diverse conditions can we see all the advantages and disadvantages of the car.”

The actor “Sunflower Against the Sun” continued to share: “I am a practical person, it can be said that I am pragmatic, so I don’t put too much emphasis on things like ‘national pride’ or ‘buying support’. A car is a big asset, so I only care about things like whether the car structure is safe or not, whether the experience is smooth or not. In this regard, it is clear that Vinfast is a very prominent car in the segment when it inherits the chassis and suspension platform of the previous BMW X5. Hong Dang is also very impressed with the European-style exterior design of Vinfast Lux SA. Creating the image for the Vinfast car was none other than the famous studio Pininfarina. This studio’s reputation is created by classic works such as Ferrari 250 GT, Ferrari Daytona, Ferrari Testarossa or Ferrari F40. In addition to Ferraris, Pininfarina also pens beautiful car models such as Alfa Romeo GTV, Maserati Gran Turismo, Fiat 124 Spider, etc. Vinfast Lux SA is also a successful design of Pininfarina.

He was also especially impressed with the tires of Vinfast’s SUV. The high-end version of Lux SA has 20-inch wheels with extremely large tire sizes: 275/40R20 front and up to 315/35R20 rear! This tire size gives the car a very impressive “standing stance”, similar to European SUV models such as the BMW X5 or Porsche Cayenne. The type of tire that Vinfast uses is Goodyear Eagle F1 imported directly from Germany. In fact, Vinfast also uses “better” tires than some German car models sold in Vietnam. He was also very surprised that the Vinfast was still very well soundproofed despite using a tire size as big as a supercar and more specifically, the selling price of these giant tires at the Vinfast service workshop was only about 7 million VND, much cheaper than other tire dealers. “The price of spare parts was a big surprise for me, I didn’t think European standard furniture was that cheap!”.

Of course, as a consumer who directly spent money to buy a car, Mr. Hong Dang did not hesitate to point out the shortcomings of Vinfast Lux SA. “No car is perfect and neither is Vinfast. For me, the interior is the thing that needs the most improvement. Specifically, the center screen is lacking Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity. In terms of smoothness or sharpness, I find Vinfast’s screen to be relatively good, but the lack of smart connections makes me still have to use my phone to find directions every time I go to the province because the map app on the car’s screen is not intuitive enough.

Another point I don’t like is the car’s lack of storage space. The passenger side trunk is too small and a bit rickety. The center armrest is large in size but the storage area below is quite small. That makes storing phones, wallets and many other items a bit inconvenient. Fortunately, the trunk is very spacious when folding the third row of seats and has a trunk kick feature, so I don’t have to worry too much when going golfing or filming for long days. The last point that I don’t like is that the car does not have a seat memory feature. I often change cars with my father, so every time I do that, I have to adjust the seat to the correct driving position, which is quite inconvenient. Hopefully Vinfast’s next product will fix all these small problems.”

Overall, actor Hong Dang is quite satisfied with his choice. Vinfast Lux SA is a car model that you must directly experience to see its “money-making points”. Of course, Lux SA and Lux A sedan are just Vinfast’s first products, so the Vietnamese car company cannot immediately create perfect products. However, with flexible financial support policies, good vehicle quality and many attractive incentive policies, it is not difficult to understand that Vinfast is gradually winning the hearts of Vietnamese customers.
