The small SUV/Crossover segment is the best-selling segment in the auto manufacturing industry today, with prominent names such as Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue and Toyota RAV4. Being absent from the list of nominees for the SUV/Crossover segment is a big omission, but Hyundai said they are ready to launch a new product that promises to wow customers. Hyundai Tucson 2022 was introduced as the latest car model possessing the Korean automaker’s Sensuous Sportiness design language.

Although it looks like a Concept version, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson is now ready to go into production and give its rivals the stiffest competition. Everything is very new, including the exterior and interior design and powertrain. The exterior design has a strong futuristic feel

The new generation Tucson has an appearance unlike any previous Hyundai model, and even no other SUV/Crossover model today has a more futuristic design. The entire headlight cluster and LED daytime running lights of the Hyundai Tucson 2022 are integrated into the grille – a design that Hyundai calls a ‘jewel’.

At the rear of the car, the taillights have a sawtooth shape connected by a light strip that extends across the entire width, giving the Hyundai Tucson 2022 a more modern and futuristic look. Modern interior compartment and many advanced safety features

The cabin of the Hyundai Tucson 2022 is synchronized with the futuristic style from the exterior with the “Interspace” design. A standard 8-inch touchscreen with an optional 10.25-inch screen provides infotainment system display, compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Located below this screen is a completely touch control panel, the physical buttons like on the old version have been removed to create a modern feel for the cockpit. Instead of the traditional gear lever, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson is equipped with a push-button gear lever, providing more convenient and simpler operations, while also making this area more spacious.

Tucson’s new steering wheel is covered in leather and has a unique design with two silver/black tones. Replacing the analog instrument cluster behind the steering wheel is a digital screen capable of fully displaying important operating parameters.

Tucson 2022 receives Hyundai’s standard SmartSense Safety equipment package, including a series of advanced features such as forward collision avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, high beam assist, driver distraction warning and rear passenger warning. Hyundai estimates the fuel consumption of the 2022 Tucson is about 8.4L/100km on mixed roads with front-wheel drive versions, more impressive than the previous generation’s 9.4L/100km. Customers can also choose to equip the 2022 Hyundai Tucson with a full-time 4-wheel drive system, with an electronic variable torque split clutch with active torque control function between the front and rear axles to ensure more flexible handling.

In addition, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson is also available with a hybrid version using a 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine combined with a 44.2 kW electric motor and 1.48 kWh battery pack for an estimated total capacity of 226 horsepower and maximum torque of 350 Nm. Power is transmitted to the wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. Compared to the Smartstream 2.5L gasoline engine configuration, Hyundai says this hybrid version is up to 30% more fuel efficient and provides a range of 500 miles (~ 805 km) when full.

Finally, there is a plug-in hybrid version with the same powertrain as the above hybrid, but equipped with a 66.9 kW electric motor and a larger 13.8 kWh battery pack. When fully electric operating mode is activated, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson plug-in hybrid can travel a maximum distance of 45 km. With the standard 7.2 kW charger, this plug-in hybrid can be fully charged in less than 2 hours.
