5 superheroes, 1 super dog, 1 super beast, and many super villains
Recently, DC Studios released the first trailer of the super blockbuster Superman – the live-action project that opens the new DC cinematic universe (DCU), following the animated series Creature Commandos. Although there aren’t too many dialogues, this trailer reveals many interesting details and valuable details surrounding DC’s new Superman.

The first trailer for Superman shocked everyone with the image of a Superman (played by David Corenswet) failing miserably and being so seriously injured that he could not get up. It’s possible that this is a detail inspired by All-Star Superman – the comic book that director James Gunn absolutely loves. In it, Superman, despite possessing many extraordinary powers, shows more of his “human” side, his soul side, his weak side. And the opponent that causes Superman to fall in this movie will most likely be Lex Luthor – Superman’s number 1 enemy.

Krypto the Superdog is Superman’s loyal four-legged friend, first appearing in Adventure Comics #210 (1955) by writer Otto Binder and artist Curt Swan. Krypto is a dog from the planet Krypton and also possesses many super powers such as super strength and the ability to fly, similar to the residents here.
James Gunn once shared that Krypto will play an important role in the upcoming movie, and the trailer above partly shows that, when this dog will help Clark Kent overcome a difficult situation.

Superman’s number 1 enemy – Lex Luthor, will also appear in DCU’s first movie blockbuster – Photo: DC Studios.
Lex Luthor will be played by Nicholas Hoult – who previously “passed” the role of Superman. In addition, in the DCU universe, Luthor’s evil corporation will be renamed Luthorcorp, instead of familiar names such as LexCo, Lex-Corp or L-Corp.

In the superhero world in general and the DCU in particular, there are many super companies run by super billionaires, and Stagg Industries is one of them. The head of this company is Simon Stagg, the number one enemy of superhero Metamorpho – the character who will appear in the blockbuster Superman. Currently, it is still unclear what role Stagg Industries will play in the first DCU film project.

Clark Kent will be the main star of Superman, but that doesn’t mean he will be the only superhero of this blockbuster. The first trailer revealed many familiar faces to DC readers such as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern (played by Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi) and Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan).
In particular, Guy Gardner will act as a bridge between Superman and the Lanterns television series (expected to launch in 2026), and also introduce the space police force to the DCU. Mr. Terrific again surprised many audiences with the fight scene with Superman, predicting a tricky scenario waiting for the audience in this movie.

No one knows the origin of this giant monster and what role it will play in the upcoming blockbuster. However, some fans have theorized that this is Jimmy Olsen, a reporter for the Daily Planet, and close friend of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. This detail will likely be inspired by the comic book Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen Vol.1 #53 (1961).

Based on the context of the photo above, it can be temporarily confirmed that it is the Fortress of Solitude, roughly translated: Fortress of Solitude, Clark Kent’s secret stronghold. Therefore, it is very possible that the robot above is Kelex. First appearing in John Byrne’s Man of Steel #1 (1986), Kelex is a robot owned by Superman’s family, and often acts as a butler at the Fortress.

This segment is set at the Metropolis Meteors stadium, where Superman will fight a mysterious opponent. Based on photos previously revealed by the press, it is likely that this is a version of Ultraman – a collection of evil variations from the multiverse, built based on the image of Superman. And it’s unclear how many Ultraman will appear in this movie.

Details related to the love story between Clark Kent and Lois Lane (played by Rachel Brosnahan) are embedded throughout the Superman trailer. This shows that DCU’s first movie project will be a combination of superheroes, super villains, super monsters and even emotional and love elements. However, audiences will have to wait until July 11, 2025 to find out how “chef” James Gunn will taste and balance these ingredients for the first main dish of the DCU.
