New mission with enemy La Llorona
The focus of the update is Last Ritesa linear story-oriented quest, can be launched directly from the main menu without requiring the player to complete the main campaign.
In this mission, Nomad and the Ghosts enter a new area in Bolivia, which is controlled by Los Penitentes, a fanatical cult built around faith, sacrifice and revenge.
At the head of Los Penitentes is La Llorona, a mysterious figure revered by his followers as a symbol of justice. She forces her followers to wear masks, erases their individuality, and demands their absolute obedience.
According to Ubisoft Bordeaux, La Llorona is built as a complex villain, coming from a person who was betrayed by those he loved and trusted. The betrayal caused her to lose her sense of belonging to the community, turning her pain into the impetus for an extreme revenge.
Last Rites’ story also has a darker tone than the main campaign. As players move deeper into La Llorona’s territory, they will gradually discover more about this character’s past, goals, and ideology through documents and recordings scattered throughout the game world.
One of the segments highly appreciated by the development team is the encounter at Varga’s mansion, where Nomad first witnesses La Llorona with her signature widow mask and confronts Los Penitentes members.
