Esports World Cup: Level Up season 2 airs on Prime Video – Game News

Documentary series about esports Esports World Cup: Level Up will officially return with its second season on June 26 on Prime Video.

All five episodes will be released at the same time, continuing to take the audience along with the players, their clubs and their families on their journey to conquer the world’s largest e-sports tournament.

Directed by RJ Cutler – Emmy Award-winning filmmaker with works such as Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry and Martha – season two of Level Up is set in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within the framework Esports World Cup 2025.

In addition to directing, Cutler also serves as executive producer through This Machine, a unit of Sony Pictures Television. The project is carried out in cooperation with Esports World Cup Foundationand brings together a production team including Trevor Smith, Elise Pearlstein and many producers who have participated in famous sports and music documentaries.

The film documents the seven-week journey of the world’s top teams in the race to win a total prize pool of up to 70 million USD, along with the EWC Club Championship title.

Instead of just focusing on intense matches, the work also explores personal stories, pressure and sacrifices behind the glory of professional players.

To record the stories of the characters, the production crew not only closely followed the tournament in Riyadh but also made many filming trips to the UK, US and Indonesia, to recreate the daily lives of the players outside the competition stage.

Besides professional players, the film also records the appearance of many famous figures in the world of entertainment and sports.

The audience will witness Post Malone’s moments behind the scenes, chess player Magnus Carlsen at his first e-sports chess tournament, or Cristiano Ronaldo’s appearance at the closing ceremony. In addition, there are many other notable faces such as Lando Norris, Ronaldo Nazário, Kaká, Alisha Lehmann, Tony Hawk and Nick Kyrgios.

According to the organizers, Esports World Cup 2025 reached approximately 750 million views globally, generated more than 350 million viewing hours and recorded nearly 8 million concurrent viewers at a tournament high League of Legends.

The tournament brings together more than 2,000 players from about 200 clubs in more than 100 countries, competing in 25 tournaments spread across 24 different games.

The organizers also confirmed Esports World Cup 2026 will be held in Paris, France from July 6 to August 23, 2026. The world’s top clubs will continue to compete for a total prize pool of 75 million USD, along with the title of EWC Club Championship.
