TFT season 16: Delicious – nutritious chess pieces
“Delicious – nutritious – cheap” chess pieces of TFT season 16
Briar (1 gold) – “boss” at the beginning of the game
If you have to find a 1-gold chess piece with the highest value in TFT history, Briar is definitely the number 1 candidate. The special thing that makes Briar the “king of blood” lies in the fact that she owns 3 Tribes/Attributes: Noxus, Slayer and Juggernaut.
During levels 3 and 4, activating the 2 Braves or 2 Butchers milestone is extremely easy, turning Briar into a tank that is both tanky and has damage. The Blood Frenzy skill allows her to rush into the farthest target, disrupting the enemy team and recovering based on the damage caused. With just an early Blood Sword or Flame Cloak, a 2-star Briar can help you maintain a winning streak throughout the 2-dot phase without having to spend too much gold to upgrade your squad.
Qiyana (1 gold) – The Butcher’s “money hacking” machine
Don’t be fooled by the price of 1 gold, Qiyana is currently the chess piece holding the most important economic key in the early game. In season 16, the Ixtal clan no longer depends on the boxes on the chessboard but switches to the mechanism of collecting Sunshards.
Qiyana’s strength lies in its rare “versatility”. As a cheap Ixtal unit, she helps you activate clan milestones early to start hoarding Japanese Stones right from the first rounds – a valuable resource to exchange for gold, equipment or rolls later.
In terms of combat ability, Qiyana has the Slayer system, allowing her to gain additional total lifesteal when her health is low. Qiyana’s skill glides through enemies and deals physical damage in a straight line, helping her reach the enemy back row easily. An early 2-star Qiyana holding Sterak’s Claw or Hand of Justice is not only a money-making machine but also a heavy carry, able to “carry” the main damage until you find a 4-money carry.
Bard (2 gold) – Mr. Buddha “hacked” the economy of TFT season 16
Bard is the most representative of Season 16’s new “Unlockables” mechanic. Note that Bard will not appear spontaneously; You need to perform the Roll operation 4 times before the shopping round (Stage 2-4) to unlock this general into your general pool.
But Bard will help you understand the value of this general. Bard owns the exclusive Caretaker clan with extreme economic manipulation ability. Bard’s mechanism is very simple: Winning a battle will increase the rate of creating a copy of a champion (helps get 3 stars quickly), Losing a battle will give you a free roll.
In a meta where everyone wants to gold-plate their team (whether it’s Reroll 1 gold or Fast 8 for 4 gold), Bard is an indispensable economic “engine”. An early Bard at 2-5 means you will be at least 20-30 gold richer than your opponent when you get late.
Gangplank (3 gold) – “Bridge” of the mid-game
While other 3-money champions are showing weakness, Gangplank (GP) has emerged as a phenomenon thanks to its stability. With the Bilgewater and Butcher clans, Gangplank is the perfect piece to combine with the Briar – Qiyana duo above.
Gangplank’s power lies in its ability to deal widespread damage, while also activating Bilgewater’s Black Market mechanism. The amount of Serpentine Coins that Gangplank earns helps players purchase permanent stat upgrades for the squad. This is a key piece for you to maintain health in the mid-game before deciding to rotate your cards to stronger 4-gold carries like Swain or Aatrox, or “dry blood” roll 3-star Gangplank to compete for the top.
