Keiichiro Toyama, the creator behind it Silent Hilljust called on developers to join Bokeh Game Studio’s team as the studio begins work on a new project it describes as “large-scale”.

Toyama posted a recruitment call on Japanese recruitment site HRMOS, in which he shared that the studio is currently starting the development phase of its second game. This developer previously worked at Konami, where he created Silent Hillbefore moving to Sony and developing series such as Sirens and Gravity Rush. In 2020, Toyama left Sony to co-found Bokeh Game Studio.

The studio’s first title is Slitterheadreleased in 2024. According to Keiichiro Toyama, this project serves as a test step to prove that the newly established studio can actually create a complete game with its own team and working methods.

In the recruitment message, Toyama said the job was completed Slitterhead make him feel Bokeh Game Studio finally “standing at the starting line”. Keiichiro Toyama explains that when starting the studio, the development team always wondered if they could actually make a game the way they wanted. Once completed and released Slitterheadthey feel that the studio’s real development journey has just begun.

Toyama also shares Bokeh Game Studio’s creative philosophy of focusing on originality. According to him, the studio’s goal is not to create bizarre things just to attract attention, but to always ask themselves why they make that game and why they are the ones who should make it. The studio wanted to find expressions that only their team could create.

In the recruitment call, Toyama said his team wants to work with developers who share the same creative spirit, who are willing to continue to experiment and seek new ideas even when faced with difficulties or skepticism.

He also warned that the new project is still in the very early stages of development, where many ideas will be tested and then abandoned. However, Toyama believes that participating in the project from its early stages also provides a rare opportunity for team members to directly shape the direction and structure of the game.

According to Toyama, the entire studio is currently focused on this new project. That also means that Bokeh Game Studio’s previous plan to develop many smaller games is temporarily shelved to devote resources to the large project being implemented.

Previously last year, Toyama confirmed in an interview that he was working on a new game project and said it was not a sequel to the game. Slitterhead. He believes that now is not the right time to think about developing a sequel for this game, although the possibility of returning to the brand in the future has not been ruled out.

Slitterhead Initially self-published by Bokeh Game Studio, however in December 2025 the game’s Steam page updated the publisher to Spike Chunsoft. The reason for this change has not yet been announced.
