Mintrocket reveals Bancho the Chef, making chef Bancho the main character – Tin Game
Mintrocketthe studio behind the success of Dave the Diverjust officially announced Bancho the Chef for PlayStation 5. This is a completely new project, not expansion content, and serves as a prequel to Dave the Diver.
This time, players will no longer follow Dave but instead will follow Bancho – the famous chef at Blue Hole Sushi restaurant, one of the brand’s most popular characters in the community.
Bancho the Chef Set in 2004, 19 years before the events in Dave the Diver. This was the period when Bancho still had his signature hair and had not yet become the legendary sushi chef that fans knew.
The game will follow Bancho on his journey through Japan, Korea, China and many other regions in Asia to learn cooking techniques from local master chefs.
According to Mintrocket, this is a combination of cooking simulation, role-playing and adventure, with a focus on Bancho’s growth in both skill and reputation.
Different from Dave the Diverwhere players mainly serve dishes at the sushi counter, Bancho the Chef puts cooking at the center of the experience.
Players will directly prepare dishes and serve customers within a limited time. Thereby, Bancho will enhance the reputation of restaurants in each region, learn new recipes and unlock many in-depth processing techniques.
Besides running the restaurant, players also receive special requests from local residents, complete tasks to gain experience and gradually become a real chef.
Like Dave the Diver, Bancho the Chef doesn’t just revolve around a single gameplay mechanic.
Mintrocket confirmed that the game will continue to offer a variety of side activities such as fishing, petting cats, and many other mini-games. The developer said they want to maintain the “multi-genre” spirit that made the game so attractive Dave the Diverinstead of limiting the experience to a traditional cooking game.
One of the most notable changes of Bancho the Chef is the abandonment of pixel art style to switch to 3D graphics.
According to the development team, this decision was made to better represent culinary-related details that are difficult to convey with pixel graphics. Factors such as the shine of the fresh fish, the grease splashes when frying, the smoke rising from the grill or the texture of the ingredients are all carefully taken care of.
The PlayStation 5 version will fully support the features of the DualSense controller to provide a more realistic cooking experience.

Players can feel the cutting force when slicing fish through haptic vibration feedback, experience the feeling of cracking eggs with adaptive triggers and built-in speakers on the handle, or use the touchpad to simulate dishwashing.
Mintrocket says it wants players to not only see but also feel the joy of cooking through direct physical interactions.
Presently Bancho the Chef was just announced for PlayStation 5 and has no official release date yet. The developer said he will share more information about the project in the near future. With Mintrocket’s familiar mix of cooking simulation, adventure, and creative style, Bancho the Chef promises to be one of the notable projects for fans Dave the Diver.
