Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is one of the games with the most viral storylines, allowing players to create their own Mii characters and interact with each other in strange and interesting ways. Unfortunately, for some reason, Nintendo has made it more difficult than necessary to share screenshots and video clips from Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on social networks or even in chat groups by disabling the ability to upload them to the Nintendo Switch app. Luckily, there are still a few ways to help you share your best gaming moments with others.
How to share photos and videos in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream
You currently have two ways to share screenshots from Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. You can use a USB-C cable that plugs directly into your computer or use a microSD card reader, the former is more readily available because most smartphones use this cable as a charger. The specific type of cable you need may depend on the type of computer or laptop you’re using. For example, all modern MacBooks require a USB-C to USB-C cable, unless you have a separate USB hub. Most Windows laptops and desktops can use USB-C to USB-A cables, as they still have rectangular USB ports.
Before transferring videos or screenshots, remember that you can trim the video using the Nintendo Switch’s built-in media viewer. Cut out unnecessary videos so there’s nothing added later.
How to share screenshots and videos using USB-C
- Plug the USB-C end of the cable into the bottom port of your Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2.
- Plug the other end of the cable into your computer or laptop.
- Open system settings on Switch.
- Select Data Management > scroll down and select Manage screenshots and videos.
- Scroll down again and select Copy to PC via USB Connection – copy to PC via USB. Your computer will now recognize the Switch and you can access files on it just like a USB drive.
- Copy the screenshots and videos from the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream folder, then paste them wherever you want to save them.
- Select disconnect. disconnect on Switch once you’re done.
How to share screenshots and videos using MicroSD Express
Another option is to transfer any screenshots or video clips to a MicroSD Express card (if available). Make sure the card is inserted into the console, then go to options Albums from the home screen.
Select the screenshot or video clip you want to transfer and tap A to open, then press A again to open the menu. Select Copy to microSD Express Card and wait for the transfer to complete (with images, it’s almost instantaneous).
Now take the microSD Express card out of the Switch 2 (located behind the right kickstand) and insert it into the microSD card reader. Plug the player into your computer, and you can now view screenshots and videos you recorded while playing Tomodachi Life Living the Dream.
