How to find archived messages in Gmail and bring them back to your inbox
Finding archived emails in Gmail is easier than you think—as long as you know where Google keeps them. Here’s how to find archived messages on Gmail and bring them back to your inbox.
Find archived messages in Gmail on the web
Find archived messages on Android
If you use Gmail on your Android phone, you can also easily access stored content. Similar to the web platform, use the search bar above the message list to search including archived content. Additionally, if you want, you can access all of your existing messages — including archived messages — through the All Mail option.
Step 1: Open the Gmail for Android app on your device.
Step 2: Select button Menu at the top of the screen; This button appears as three dashes.
Step 3: Select the All Mail option from the menu that appears.
Step 4: You can now see your email list on the screen. This list will include all emails in your account, including archived messages.
Move archived messages to your Gmail inbox on the web
If you change your mind, you’re free to move any archived Gmail messages back to your inbox. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Sign in to Gmail on the web
Step 2: Find the email you want to move back to its old location.
Step 3: Check the small box to the left of that email.
Step 4: At the top of the screen, select the icon Move to inbox. This icon looks like a mail tray with a down arrow inside.
Your archived email will be returned to your inbox for you to review as usual. If you want to return the email to the archive, hover over the email again and select the Archive button.
