Things to know about Illuga’s power in Genshin Impact

Illuga in Genshin Impact Strengthens the entire team’s Rock-type power, shares EM, and raises Moonsign’s level, making it a strong choice for single-type Teams of Rock or Water-Raw types.

Illuga is a long-awaited 4-star spear-wielding Lava character from the mysterious land of Nod-Krai. As a devoted member of the Lightkeepers – specifically as a Ratnik and captain – he displays unwavering determination in the face of the nightmares of the Wild Hunt. This character’s skill set positions him as a versatile Rock-type supporter, excelling at amplifying Rock-type damage through damage boosts from Elemental Mastery, Critical buffs and synergies with Rock-type builds as well as the new Lunar-Crystallize reaction (a Lunar-type variant of Crystallize involving Geo and Hydro).

Slated to launch in Genshin Impact 6.3 Phase 2 (circa February 3-24, 2026) alongside Zibai’s banner, Illuga’s design encourages EM (Elemental Mastery) accumulation while allowing for explosive Lava-type damage to carries like Navia, Albedo or Noelle. The companion – the bird Gale (or A’Dong/Aedon) makes this character’s attacks even more interesting.

Normal attack: Oathkeeper’s Spear / Oath-Taking Spear Technique

Illuga performs up to four spear strikes in a row, dealing Physical damage converted to Rock in his skill set

Charged attack: Consumes stamina to rush forward, dealing widespread Lava damage along the way.

Dive attack: Dashes down from mid-air, dealing damage to enemies when descending and extensive damage on impact.

This is a basic character for long-handled weapon users, but Illuga’s personal damage is weak compared to his support abilities.

Elemental Skill: Dawnbearing Songbird / Dawn-Breaking Messenger

Cooldown: 15 seconds.

Summon your loyal messenger bird, Gale, to pounce on your enemies:

• Touch: Gale rushes forward, attacking enemies along the way, dealing Earth damage.
• Hold: Sight mode allows precise targeting; Gale charges at marked enemies, dealing Earth damage on impact.

This skill activates the character’s important passive to increase the strength of allies and cause small damage on the battlefield.

Elemental Burst: Shadowless Reflection / Light Unshaded

Energy consumption: 60 | Cooldown: 15 seconds | Validity period: 20 seconds.

Illuga lights the lantern, dealing AoE damage and activating Haunted Night’s Oriole / Nightingale’s Song. He gains 21 stacks of Song of the Nightingale:

• Party members’ Lava-type damage consumes 1 stack per hit (enemies hit by multiple attacks will consume more).
• Each Lava-type attack grants a damage bonus that increases with Illuga’s Elemental Mastery (the exact percentage will be determined in the final skill table).
• Moon Crystal Bonus: Amplifies this boost further.
• Rock Structure Synthesis: +5 stacks for each Rock structure on the battlefield (e.g. Zhongli’s dome, Earth Voyager structure) from party members, up to a maximum of +15 stacks.

The effect ends when the stacks are exhausted or after 20 seconds. This is the core of Illuga: an ability that amplifies the Lava-type based on stacks, shines in multi-constructed compositions and augments regular Lava-type usage.
