Sea of Stars will land on mobile on April 7, 2026
Sea of Stars, the award-winning adventure role-playing game, will be released by Playdigious.
This is an adaptation of the classic work developed by Sabotage Studio and released on PC in 2023, quickly conquering millions of players thanks to the gameplay that perfectly combines classic nostalgia and modern creativity. With more than 4 million plays in just the first four months on other platforms, the game not only received countless praise from critics but also won prestigious awards such as Best Indie Game at the Golden Joystick Awards 2023 and Best Independent Game at The Game Awards 2023, and was even nominated for the Best Role Playing Game category.
This makes the game Sea of Stars one of the most prominent indie games of the decade, inspired by old RPG masterpieces like Chrono Trigger or Super Mario RPG, but enhanced with top-notch music by Yasunori Mitsuda – the legendary composer of Chrono Trigger – providing melodious melodies, reminiscent of childhood memories but still full of vitality.
The story of the game Sea of Stars revolves around two main characters, Valere and Zale, Children of the Summer Solstice who possess special powers from the sun and moon. They must combine this energy to cast Eclipse Magic, the only weapon that can fight the monstrous creatures created by the evil alchemist The Fleshmancer.
Their journey is not only a fight against darkness but also a profound discovery of friendship, adventure and life lessons, with unexpected details, sometimes epic, sometimes humorous, sometimes touching the player’s heart. Sabotage Studio, the studio famous for The Messenger – an innovative retro platformer – has poured its heart and soul into this, creating a vivid world where everything can be touched, from dense forests to vast oceans, all depicted through beautiful pixel art graphics with dynamic lighting system, pushing the limits of 2D style to new heights.
In terms of gameplay, Sea of Stars Mobile offers the freedom to explore without being constrained by the traditional grid like classic RPGs. You can swim, jump, and climb smoothly through diverse terrain, creating a feeling of a large and surprising open world.
Turn-based combat remains familiar but is modernized with a timed hits mechanism – requiring players to press buttons at the right time to increase damage – along with powerful combos, power-ups and a strategic “lock” system, helping you control the match intelligently.
The best part is that the game completely eliminates annoying random encounters or the need for tiresome leveling, allowing you to focus on story and strategy, suitable for both new players and longtime fans of the genre.

Besides the dramatic battles and engaging storyline, Sea of Stars Mobile also invites you to relax through countless interesting side activities. Imagine you are rowing a boat on the sea, fishing under the sunset, or cooking delicious dishes to restore your team’s strength. And don’t miss the cozy pub, where you can sit and listen to folk music or try your hand at the board game Wheels – a strategy mini-game inspired by classic card games, providing moments of light entertainment in the midst of a stressful journey. These elements not only honor the legacy of retro games but are also tweaked to suit modern gameplay, making the game the ideal place to “chill” after long days.
In particular, the mobile version is carefully designed to take full advantage of the handheld device. The user interface is enhanced with smooth touch controls, cloud storage to easily transfer progress between Android devices, and perfect compatibility with game controllers. This promises to bring an experience not inferior to the console version, even more convenient for those who like to play anytime, anywhere.
