PUBG Mobile Light is coming back, what’s new?

After many years of almost no activity and falling into a state of silence, PUBG Mobile Light – lightweight version of PUBG Mobile long-awaited is finally preparing to make its grand return. Most recently, KRAFTON announced the return of PUBG Mobile Light, expected to launch later this year.

The new game version is being developed under a completely new look, after the development team officially made an announcement on social networks.

Lighter version than PUBG Mobile

As the name suggests, PUBG Mobile Light is a lighter version of PUBG Mobile, designed for those who want to play PUBG Mobile but in a faster and more flexible way. This is a solution for those who cannot play the full version of a game due to device configuration limitations.

Even though it is a streamlined version of the original game, PUBG Mobile Light can still stand as a standalone product. The game is designed for devices with limited storage and RAM, offering shorter matches, smaller maps, and faster-paced gameplay.

The Light version also includes Arena modes, team play features, and a built-in anti-cheat system. Notably, this information was announced right after Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) Lite was confirmed to launch in India at the end of 2026, after years of continuous requests from the community.

The new PUBG Mobile Light game is expected to be released at the end of 2026 (no specific time yet). The pre-registration program will begin on August 25, 2026.

The old PUBG Mobile Lite was loved by many people

PUBG Mobile Lite old version was co-developed by Tencent Games and KRAFTON, launched in 2019 and has become one of the versions loved by many players.

The game offers a highly interactive experience with a series of attractive features. However, since the beginning of 2020, the game’s appeal gradually declined due to the development team’s lack of update activities, and eventually PUBG Mobile Lite fell into a state of near abandonment.

What’s different about the new version?

Compact, energy saving

The initial data download capacity is only about 1 GB on Android and less than 2 GB on iOS. Players do not need to download any additional mandatory data packages before entering their first match.

Once you complete the initial loading process, you can immediately enter the battlefield. Players can also choose which additional data packages they want to download. This feature will significantly save storage space on the phone.

Cross-platform matchmaking feature between two versions

PUBG Mobile Light will always be connected to PUBG Mobile’s database:

• Maps and many other interactive features will remain the same as the original version, to provide a realistic and familiar experience.
• If you already own a PUBG Mobile account, you can use that same account to log in to PUBG Mobile Light.
• Your existing items will also be converted to the Light version. In addition, players can team up with friends who are playing PUBG Mobile.
• The development team also ensures that PUBG Mobile Light will continue to be updated similar to the PUBG Mobile version.
