No longer a rumor: Wuthering Waves reveal their biggest collaboration ever
Kuro Games officially confirms the collaboration between Wuthering Waves and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Lucy and Rebecca will become playable characters.
After months of rumors and hidden teases, Kuro Games has finally officially confirmed the collaboration between Wuthering Waves and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. This is considered the biggest crossover event since the launch of this open-world ARPG game, and marks the first time Wuthering Waves has collaborated with a famous outside entertainment brand.
Lucy and Rebecca officially joined Wuthering Waves
According to information announced during the introduction of version 3.4, the two most popular characters of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Lucy and Rebecca, will appear as controllable 5-star Resonators.
Notably, Rebecca will be given for free to all players who meet the event conditions, while Lucy appears through a limited banner. This is the first time Kuro Games has given away a free 5-star collab character on a large scale, showing its ambition to attract both new players and the Cyberpunk fan community.
Version 3.4 is more than just an ordinary update
Update 3.4 titled The Dream Not Dreamed not only adds new characters but also introduces a series of Cyberpunk-themed content.
Players will experience:
+ Brand new cooperative story quest series.
+ Areas and settings inspired by Night City.
+ Cyberpunk-style combat effects, animations and interfaces.
+ Exclusive collaboration banner with many limited-time rewards.
According to Kuro Games, this is the collaborative project with the most resources invested since Wuthering Waves released on PC, mobile and PlayStation 5.
Why is this collab considered the “biggest”?
Previously, Wuthering Waves mainly developed content around the world of Solaris-3. The cooperation with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners – a famous anime brand produced by Studio Trigger based on the Cyberpunk universe of CD PROJEKT RED – is considered an important turning point in Kuro Games’ development strategy.
Not only does it bring two famous characters, the event is also built with its own storyline, new gameplay mechanics and a series of limited items, instead of simply adding costumes like many other crossover events. This helps this collaboration become the largest-scale event in the history of the game Wuthering Waves.
The gaming community responded positively
Immediately after the trailer was announced, the Wuthering Waves community on Reddit and many international forums quickly expressed excitement.
Many people appreciate that Kuro Games retains the design style of Lucy and Rebecca, while combining cyberpunk combat effects but still consistent with the high-speed combat system of Wuthering Waves. One of the most mentioned points is that Rebecca is given away for free, making it easier for players to access collab content without having to rely entirely on gacha.
Wuthering Waves hopes to make a breakthrough after a historic collaboration
Big updates are always a factor that helps Wuthering Waves maintain its appeal in the competitive gacha game market. With the appearance of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, version 3.4 is expected to help the game attract a large number of new players as well as bring back the old community.
In fact, after the update was released, Wuthering Waves recorded a record high in concurrent players on Steam, surpassing previous milestones.
Conclude
The Wuthering Waves x Cyberpunk: Edgerunners event is no longer just rumors. With Lucy and Rebecca officially joining the game, a series of new content and an unprecedented scale of investment, this is considered the biggest crossover that Kuro Games has ever done.
