New Exodus trailer reveals sci-fi action RPG gameplay – Game News

At this year’s The Game Awards, Exodus – sci-fi action role-playing game by Archetype Entertainment developed and published by Wizards of the Coast – has officially released a new trailer, providing a clearer look at the gameplay as well as the world the game is building. This is the project’s next big appearance since it was first announced at The Game Awards two years ago, with a surprise appearance from famous actor Matthew McConaughey, who takes on a key role in the plot.

The new trailer focuses on introducing the main character Jun Aslan, and also reveals many details about the role-playing – action gameplay that Exodus pursue. According to the description from the developer, Jun comes from an ordinary background, but carries with him the heritage of a prestigious Traveler lineage. Hidden behind that humble origin is a special genetic inheritance, helping Jun possess abilities far beyond ordinary humans. It is this element that will play a key role in the character’s journey and how players shape his destiny.

Archetype Entertainment said Exodus. The decisions players make not only affect immediate developments, but also create consequences that last for generations, reflecting the “conflicts of interest” intertwined in the game universe. This promises to bring storytelling depth, similar to the classic RPGs that many members of the development team have participated in.

In terms of gameplay, players can approach situations in many different ways. Stealth gameplay or direct confrontation with open combat are both designed to bring equivalent value, allowing players the freedom to choose the style that suits them. Besides, Jun will not be alone in this adventure. Players will meet and recruit different teammates, building relationships with them to unlock side quests, backstories, and additional layers of lore to the game world.

The trailer also showcases Matthew McConaughey’s role as CC Orlev, a mysterious character who appears at key moments to guide or influence Jun’s journey. McConaughey’s presence continues to be a big highlight, not only in terms of media but also in terms of acting depth for the plot.

Exodus is the debut project of Archetype Entertainment, an Austin-based studio founded in 2019 as a game development arm of Wizards of the Coast. Archetype’s team brings together many veteran developers who have worked at BioWare, Naughty Dog, 343 Industries and Blizzard – names associated with game brands rich in storylines.

Sharing about the project, Archetype representative said Exodus is a story about human perseverance and the heroic spirit that can arise in the darkest of times. Meanwhile, Wizards of the Coast emphasizes that the game will take players to a future where technology has developed to the point where humans can reach near-divine abilities, and every choice can change the world.

Exodus currently set for release in early 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store).
