More beautiful, smarter AI
One UI 8.5 is an upgrade of One UI 8 with clear improvements from interface optimization to intelligent AI features for infinite photo editing.
Not just stopping at regular patches, the newly released One UI 8.5 Beta shows a great effort by Samsung to refine the user interface to become more modern, smoother and more personalized than the previous One UI 8 version. If you are curious about the difference between these two versions, let’s “dissect” the “expensive” upgrades below.
Refer to the Galaxy S25 series receiving the latest One UI update at Minh Tuan Mobile:
New interface: Feels more “luxurious” and neater
The most noticeable change in One UI 8.5 is streamlining and consistency.
The search bar in the app drawer is now designed more prominently with a white tone instead of being transparent like on One UI 8, creating perfect synchronization with the search bar in Settings.
Even the battery icon on the status bar has been “squeezed” to become more slender and modern.
What I really like is that the menus at the bottom of the Phone or Device Care applications are now designed as “floating menus”.
This helps me operate with one hand extremely comfortably. Even the search bar in the app drawer has been made whiter and more prominent, creating a perfect sense of uniformity when I swipe from the home screen deep into Settings.
The Quick Panel is “free” to customize
If in One UI 8, the Control Panel is still quite limited, then in One UI 8.5, I was really surprised.
Samsung allows me to customize the size of each shortcut box. I can stretch the Wifi button to make it bigger or shrink the rarely used buttons, even rotate it vertically or horizontally as desired.
Even more interesting, I also added “mini widgets” such as music controller or ChatGPT shortcut right into this panel.
It feels like you’re designing your own phone, extremely flexible and not afraid of clashing with anyone.
Other “small but powerful” features
There are two things about One UI 8.5 that made me “love it” right from the first time I used it.
First is the Clock application: the new stopwatch interface has beautiful motion effects, no longer flat and monotonous like before.
In particular, you can set the weather wallpaper for the alarm. Early in the morning, when I close my eyes and open my eyes when I hear the bell ring, I immediately know whether it is sunny, rainy or cold outside through the display wallpaper, extremely convenient to prepare things to go out.
Second is the Storage Share feature.
I can sit in one place and directly access the memory of the Samsung tablet in the next room to get data.
The connection between devices in the Galaxy ecosystem is now so smooth that I no longer need to use cables or send files via third-party applications.
Galaxy AI: Photo editing is much smarter and more “leisurely”.
Finally, we cannot help but mention Galaxy AI. On One UI 8.5, the feature to draw details into photos has enabled “Keep Editing”.
In One UI 8, every time the AI finishes creating a detail, I have to save it before continuing, which is quite time-consuming.
As for One UI 8.5, I can draw a crown, then draw a cat, then add clouds… all in one go.
The system also saves the history of each step to return to the previous version if you accidentally make a bad photo. This is truly a great tool for those who love creating content right on their phone.
In short, One UI 8.0 was very good, but One UI 8.5 is really the version that feels “good” when used thanks to Samsung’s overall improvements. It’s smarter, more beautiful and, importantly, understands users a lot better
