Based on information “leaked” online, it seems Metro 2039 will have a storyline that many fans of the series will not anticipate.

Just recently, a summary of the game’s content (Synopsis) was suddenly revealed above IGDB.

In the words of the description, this will be the “most shocking” release in the entire series and the game looks to promise an extremely memorable storyline that blends elements like exploration, shooting and stealth together.

Based on the information from this summary, there is one thing that has caught many people’s attention: Hunter’s existence.

For those who don’t know, Hunter is the main character in the novel Metro 2034 and it looks like he will now become a key villain in the game’s plot.

Not only that, you will play an unnamed character nicknamed Stranger.

This is quite surprising because recently, 4A Games had to go through a huge “leak” with 120 GB of data from a canceled version of the game. Metro 2039 from 2022 was suddenly posted on the online community.

Among the leaked data, many users discovered that Hunter is the main character of the game and the 2022 version also has the appearance of Khan and Bourbon.

As for the reason why 4A Games changed Hunter’s role, everything is still a huge mystery. However, one reason to explain this could be because the developer wants to delete the version from 2022 to redo the plot to reflect the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Additionally, the description also alludes to the return of The Dark Ones creatures – the last time these creatures appeared in the plot was in Metro: Last Light in 2013.
