MECCHA CHAMELEON: Instructions for color and paint combinations for camouflage
In this tutorial, we’ll learn how to color match, pose, position, and paint in Meccha Chameleon to fool the seeker every round.
In MECCHA CHAMELEON, you start with a white body and a drawing tool. The goal is to blend into the environment by choosing the right colors, striking the right posture, and remaining still to avoid detection. It’s important to remember that paint is only part of the camouflage process. To be successful, you must combine color, pose, position and surface.
Instructions for color matching and painting in MECCHA CHAMELEON
Why is color matching more difficult than expected?
New players often choose a color first and then look for a hiding place, causing the color to not match the environment. Instead, choose the location first and then coordinate the colors. Searchers often pay attention to contrast, contours, and objects that appear unusual, not just slight differences in color. Therefore, paint color only helps you stand out less, but the ability to camouflage depends on the overall look.
Should I paint first or choose a location first?
Always choose the location first. Find a corner or cluster of objects that your body can blend into, then choose the average tone of that area rather than copying the color of an individual object. After painting, pose before standing still. If the body shape is too easy to recognize, even if the color is correct, it will be easy to detect.
Tip: Observe → Choose a position → Paint → Create a pose → Stand still.
Painting strategy for each surface
Color transitions between surfaces are a common pitfall. Different surfaces will affect your painting strategy.
| Surface | The right way to paint | Risk |
| Floor | Reduce contrast, avoid being the brightest spot. | Body contours are easily exposed. |
| The wall has many objects | Choose the main color of the area and shape it as an object mounted on the wall. | Standing in the wrong position is easy to detect. |
| Cluster of objects | Coordinate the common color tone of the entire cluster. | Do not copy the color of a small object. |
| Edges change color | Prioritize the color of the larger surface. | Color boundaries are easy to attract attention. |
Note: Once you’ve chosen the location, don’t constantly adjust the color. Migration is often easier to detect than an imperfect paint color.
Common errors and how to fix them
The most common mistake is to focus only on paint color. Even though the color is very similar, you will still be detected if you stand in an unreasonable position.
Another mistake is always choosing dark colors. Dark colors are only effective in dark areas; On a light background, it makes the body outline stand out more.
If you are continuously detected even though the color is quite accurate, review your pose and position instead of continuing to adjust the color.
5-step painting process
- Observe the room and choose a suitable location.
- Choose the general tone of the area.
- Create a pose that blends into surrounding objects.
- Only move if the color or shape is not suitable.
- After each round, review the reason why you were discovered to learn from experience.
During the first few times you play, you should only focus on improving one element each round, such as reducing contrast or color matching in clusters of objects. This makes it easier for you to see what really works.
