After nearly a decade since it was first announced, the beat ’em up Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch There’s finally an official release date.

After years of only occasional short updates confirming the project was still in development, Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch A release date has finally been set. The game will launch on April 20 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Nintendo Switch and PC. April 20 is also a milestone with special meaning for Kevin Smith fans, because “4/20” is often considered a cultural symbol associated with smoking marijuana, and humorous elements often appear in his works.
The game’s release will be handled by Atari and Digital Eclipse. Digital Eclipse also recently developed another retro-style beat ’em up game Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind.
In the game, players will play the duo Jay and Silent Bob, fighting through a series of side-scrolling beat ’em up levels. The game uses hand-drawn character graphics, incorporating many signature lines and familiar humorous elements from Kevin Smith’s cinematic universe, commonly known as the View Askewniverse.
Adventure in Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch takes the two main characters away from their familiar New Jersey neighborhood on a surreal journey that leads to boss battles inspired by Smith’s films. During the game, the player will have to overcome many different enemies such as young thugs holding hockey sticks, hipsters or other strange opponents.
The game allows for single player or two-player co-op, where players can combine many special attacks and funny combos. The project was also made with the direct participation of Kevin Smith, who not only supported the development process but also contributed his voice to the game.
The game is also designed as a “love letter” to fans of Smith’s films, as many familiar characters from the View Askewniverse will appear. One of the first supporting characters players can meet is Dante from the movie Clerks.
After nearly 10 years of waiting since the project was announced, Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch is finally set to launch, giving fans the chance to experience an action game steeped in the humor and culture typical of Kevin Smith films.
