Instructions for participating in the IOE exam for the 2026-2027 school year

IOE – Internet Olympiads of English is an English Olympic competition on the Internet, providing a playground to help arouse the love of English among students across Vietnam, from which they can apply and use English in different areas of life.

IOE was born with the orientation of building and developing the English learning movement across the country, opening up opportunities for equal access to English and Information Technology for many generations of students. IOE helps students practice English regularly to review and firmly grasp the knowledge they have learned at school.

Instructions for participating in the IOE English test

Create student IOE accounts

Students who registered for an IOE account before August 15, 2026 can continue to use their account and update new educational information for the 2026-2027 school year. If you do not have an account, please refer to Instructions on how to register an IOE account for students.

Complete the Self-Practice tests:

• The Self-Practice round will be a mandatory condition for students to register for official exams at all levels. The system will open 35 Self-Training rounds every Monday (except Self-Training round No. 1, which opens on Friday), starting from August 15, 2026.
• When starting to participate in the Self-Practice section at any time during the school year, students will start from Self-Practice round number 1. After completing the tests in the Self-Practice round, students can click “Save results” to move to the next round opened on the system, or select “Redo” to continue practicing the current round.

Participate in the official exam:

• Students completing the Self-Training round and having their account in the “verified account” state are necessary conditions for school teachers to register for the official exam list on the system. Only students who successfully register for the exam are eligible to take the exam.
• The content of self-practice rounds and official exams is provided by the Organizing Committee completely free of charge. Educational units and students taking the exam do not need to pay a participation fee.
• IOE’s official exams are only for students in educational units registered to organize the exam. In order to create opportunities for all students to participate in the experience, IOE deploys two complementary activities: Exam Experience (free) and Practice Exam (package exchange).
• Exam experience: Before each official exam (school, commune/ward, and province/city level), IOE will open Exam Experience for all grade levels, announcements will be posted on the ioe.vn homepage. This is an opportunity for students to experience the exam like an official exam, test their knowledge and become familiar with the exam method. After the exam experience ends, the list of TOP highest scores will be announced on the homepage.
• Test: The system provides random practice exam questions from a large data warehouse with more than 1,000,000 questions, updated annually. Practice tests simulate official exams and can be taken at any time. Each practice test includes many consecutive questions within a certain time. The system has weekly rankings and allows looking up answers for incorrect answers. The practice test is a paid service, requiring students to verify their account and purchase a service package. The system provides Trial Test packages for each grade level, so students can purchase and use the Trial Test feature of one or more different grades according to their needs (of the same grade level as the student account information) right on one account.
