What is Anime Expeditions?

Anime Expeditions is a defense game that revolves around building a squad of anime-themed characters and deploying them to prevent enemy attacks from reaching your base. You start with normal characters and gradually upgrade to Mythic to Secret levels through grinding, daily rewards, and the game’s insurance system.

Anime Expeditions is available on PC, consoles, and mobile devices (iOS and Android), so you can grind the map anywhere. Every major system, from evolution to attribute changes to gear crafting, connects back to that core goal: Build a squad strong enough to overcome all challenges in the game.

How to play Anime Expeditions for beginners

After starting Anime Expeditions, the first thing you should do is complete the Beginner Path event. Before starting anything, make sure you redeem your new Anime Expeditions codes to get free attribute crystals and gems in the game.

Anime Expeditions does not have any specific instructions for players. Instead, beginners should learn about all the main gameplay mechanics, such as summoning units, upgrading characters, equipment, playing story mode, and more.

Completing side quests and challenges can give you a variety of rewards, including gold, gems, stat-boosting items, gray souls, and some starting gear from Anime Expeditions.

Choose a suitable starting banner

One of the biggest mistakes new players of Anime Expeditions often make is spending all the diamonds as soon as they receive them. There are many different banners when you start playing the game. Understanding the differences between them is key to building a strong lineup because each banner has its own uses.

Completing the Beginner Path will get you some Beginner Tickets. You can later use them to summon characters from Banner for Beginners. Banners for beginners should be a top priority as soon as you get these tickets. Currently, this is the best place to be sure to get high-level characters in Anime Expeditions.

Once you have used up all Beginner Tickets, you will have to choose between Standard Banner and Mini Banner. While Standard Banner provides access to Secret characters and many Mythics, Banner Mini focuses on a smaller number of featured Mythics and Legendary units.

As a new player, you should focus on building a strong squad first, so choose standard Banner to summon units first. As you progress, you can switch to Banner Mini when you’re pursuing a specific unit in the game.

Prioritize strong DPS characters over support

Every new player wants support characters that stand out with unique abilities, but your first goal should always be to increase the total damage dealt to your team. Completing Story mode is much easier when the main damage dealer in the team can kill enemies quickly before they flood the way to your base.

Some of the most damaging units you can target include the Flame Emperor, Lady Giant, Elf Mage, String Demon, Reaper, and Ice Queen. Of course, you should always prioritize secrets like Shadow and 8th Sword first, but that’s when you reach the late game.

The worst support units to ignore include Scissor, Greed, Stone Alchemist, Ice Mage, and Water Princess. Support units certainly have their role, but that’s when you play Challenges and Raids. There, you can take advantage of Salmon Sorcerer, Puppet or The Hero.

Focus on Story Mode first

Anime Expeditions launches with a huge amount of content, including raids, challenges, events, guilds, exploration and more. No matter how much you feel like trying out every progression system, completing Story mode first should still be your main goal in the early game.

Story chapters will unlock new content, reward you with lots of gems, and help you unlock better units, ultimately preparing your team for more difficult battles. Furthermore, completing all Anime Expeditions maps will also reward you with rare gear. Note that completing every quest will eventually get you closer to raids, evolutions, mastery farming, and eventually the exploration system.

Should I prioritize farming items or equipment?

Anime Expeditions has a full item system, not just unit upgrades. Evolution materials, attribute crystals, food items, and equipment all play specific roles in account growth. Knowing where each resource drops will save you hours of ineffective plowing.

Equipment is divided into two types: standard equipment available to all units and exclusive equipment available only to evolved units. Both are important, but exclusive equipment often has a bigger impact on performance, so it’s a good idea to prioritize equipment after your units have evolved.
