How to find and use Christmas Lights in 99 Nights in the Forest
99 Nights in the Forest’s Week 2 Christmas update expanded the holiday event with new objectives around Christmas Lights and the North Pole Biome. After rescuing the goblins, your next mission is to restore safety to the North Pole Biome by relighting the area.
By collecting Christmas Lights scattered throughout the forest and decorating pine trees in the North Pole Biome, you will receive a Candy Cane and permanently unlock a new buildable safe zone. To help you complete the event quickly and in no time, this guide will explain in detail how to find Christmas Lights, how to use them, and how to complete the entire event.
How to get Christmas Lights in 99 Nights in the Forest
Christmas lights are a special event item added in the Week 2 Christmas update. Unlike Candy Cane, this item cannot be purchased and cannot be crafted. Instead, you will collect them naturally while exploring the map.
How do Christmas lights appear?
- Appears randomly on regular trees in the forest
- Dropped by hostile monsters, such as Wolves.
How to collect:
- Cut down the tree as usual, or
- Destroy enemies while exploring
If the tree or monster has Christmas Lights attached, when you destroy or defeat them, the Christmas Lights will automatically fall out, and you just need to pick them up and put them in your inventory.
The best way to farm Christmas Lights effectively:
- Continue clearing the areas you have finished exploring
- Combine logging and monster hunting
Over time, you will naturally collect the necessary amount of Christmas Lights to complete the event without having to farm individually.
How to use Christmas Lights in 99 Nights in the Forest
Christmas lights are only used in the North Pole Biome, a new area added in the Christmas update. Inside this eco-zone, you will see many undecorated Christmas trees, located near elf structures and buildings.
- Plant positions may vary slightly between each play
- However, the total number of trees that can be decorated is limited to 12 trees
Once you have Christmas Lights in your inventory:
- Approach an undecorated tree in the North Pole Biome
- Press E key to interact
- Your character will use a set of Christmas Lights to decorate the tree
After each tree is successfully lit, you will receive 3 Candy Canes.
When all 12 trees are decorated, the game will trigger a special cutscene, confirming that the North Pole is safe again.
- End the event process
- Permanently unlocks North Pole Biome as a secondary safe zone
You can then build structures in this area using blueprints scattered throughout the area.
Event reward – Christmas lights
Each decorated tree will reward 3 Candy Canes. Since there are only 12 canes that can be lit, the maximum total number of Candy Canes received is 36. These Candy Canes can be used at the Christmas Elf Shop to purchase:
- Limited time items
- New rewards like the Gifting Elf class
- Many other skins
