Dune: Awakening lands on PS5 and Xbox Series on September 22, 2026 – Game News
Funcom just confirmed Dune: Awakening will officially release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22, 2026. On the same day, the game will also appear on Xbox Game Pass and Microsoft Store for PC.
Before that, Dune: Awakening launched on PC via Steam in June 2025. The console version will include all of the content, features, and improvements that have been added to the PC version over the past year.
One of the most notable changes of Dune: Awakening is the addition of the ability to experience the entire game as single player.
Players can complete all content without joining a multiplayer server, and customize many factors such as combat difficulty, resource gathering speed, or experience gain speed.
Funcom says this is one of the most requested features by the community since the game launched on PC.
The September release will also mark the completion of Book One, bringing a concluding chapter to the first part of the film’s story. Dune: Awakening.
New console players will be able to experience the entire journey from start to finish without having to wait for further content updates.
Besides the new content, the console version of Dune: Awakening also integrates all the upgrades that have been implemented on PC since the release date.
Some highlights include:
- PvP mode becomes optional instead of mandatory.
- The entire game can be experienced in a PvE direction.
- The endgame system has been rebuilt to provide a more balanced experience.
- Media backup and base regeneration tools help limit loss of progress.
- Expand the storyline and add many new exploration locations.
- Many improvements to the quality of experience such as editing character appearance and removing some previous fee mechanisms.
For console players, the interface and control system have also been individually optimized. Funcom aims to operate at 60 FPS on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X through Performance Mode.
Funcom also revealed long-term development plans for the game after September.
One of the first big pieces of content will be Polar Cap, a brand new survival zone located in the polar regions of the planet Arrakis. This map is expected to be released for free at the end of the year and will introduce many new survival mechanisms and challenges in an icy environment completely different from familiar deserts.
On the Xbox ecosystem, Dune: Awakening will be included in Xbox Game Pass on release day.
The game also supports Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing Xbox and Microsoft Store users to share gameplay progress across multiple devices. In addition, the game is also compatible with Xbox Cloud Gaming, ROG Xbox Ally, Steam Deck and GeForce Now.
Set in the franchise’s famous world of Arrakis Dune, Dune: Awakening combines open world survival, base building, item crafting, combat and RPG elements.
