[ĐÁNH GIÁ XE] Honda CR-V 2026 assembled version: “Exposing” the mechanical quality and the solution to the problem of domestic and imported cars
The question of the quality difference between assembled cars (CKD) and imported cars (CBU) is always a hot topic every time a strategic car model is localized.
With the Honda CR-V 2026 HEV RS version, putting it on the scale to “examine” every weld, wheel compartment or door knock is the only way to have the most honest view of the assembly level in Vietnam today.
Sophistication from mechanical structure to exterior identity
If you place the assembled version next to the imported version, the most noticeable difference is that some details on the exterior are now painted glossy black instead of the same body color.
This change, when combined with the lattice grille and 18-inch wheels, helps the car look more sturdy and masculine when traveling on the street.
However, the real “quality” lies in the things the naked eye rarely sees. Bringing the car onto the lift, the entire underbody from the engine compartment protection panel to load-bearing details such as the A-frame, steering rotor or tire system all have measurements and dimensions that match the imported version.
A subtle point in manufacturing that few people notice is the difference between front and rear shock absorbers. The front spring is designed with fewer turns to increase stiffness and support precise steering, while the rear has more turns to prioritize smoothness. The MacPherson front and multi-link rear suspension on the assembly retains its sharp finish, with no signs of material cutting.
Technological advances inside the cockpit
The most expensive new feature on the “domestic” CR-V hybrid is the push-button gear shifting system – the first equipment to appear on this car line in Vietnam. Compared to the traditional gear lever on the imported version, the button design not only helps the center pedestal become airy and modern but is also carefully calculated by Honda in terms of ergonomics. The reverse layout of the R (reverse) button helps the driver easily operate by feel, minimizing gear mistakes and improving safety.
The interior space still maintains a modern and sporty look with a characteristic black tone with red stitching. The driver is pampered by 8-way power seats with memory, hugging the body, along with a sharp HUD screen and intuitive digital dashboard.
Meanwhile, rear passengers can enjoy relaxation from the panoramic sunroof or the extremely deep seat backrest. The entertainment highlight is the 12-speaker Bose system with distinct sound quality, combined with good sound insulation to create a truly relaxing space.
Realistic operation: Instant reflexes and body stability
The “heart” of the CR-V e:HEV RS is a Hybrid powertrain consisting of a 2.0L Atkinson engine combined with a pair of electric motors for a total capacity of 204 horsepower. The real challenge of the assembled CR-V lies on harsh mountain passes with a full load of 5 adults. Honda’s Hybrid system continues to show its superiority when the gasoline engine acts as a smart generator, supporting the flexible operation of the electric motor. At low speeds, the car glides silently, but when needing to go uphill or accelerate instantly, the combination of gasoline and electric engines provides instant acceleration, with no lag.
In intensive tests such as running slalom at a speed of 75 km/h or driving quickly (moose test) at 70 km/h, the suspension and chassis of the assembly demonstrate amazing sturdiness. The car body is stable, without any twisting or loss of control, providing a realistic and reliable driving experience.
The “sticky” driving feeling and feedback from the road surface to the steering wheel are still Honda’s “specialties”, which have not been lost when switching to domestic assembly. With actual fuel consumption of only around 5.2 liters/100km, this is truly a perfect economic problem for a family SUV.
Advantages from domestic assembly: Price and supply
Switching to assembly in Vietnam brings immediate benefits to customers. By taking advantage of tax incentives and domestic production costs, the car’s price becomes much more competitive than when imported. Currently, the most advanced RS version has a price of about 1.25 billion VND – an extremely reasonable number for the technological values that this car model brings.
Besides, proactive domestic production helps Honda ensure stable supply. Buyers no longer have to face long waits for imported cars. Faster vehicle delivery time is a big plus, helping customers soon experience their favorite car model without interrupting their personal plans.
Conclude
Honda CR-V e:HEV RS 2026 assembled version has proven that: Quality does not lie in origin but in manufacturing standards. Localization does not reduce the core value of this car line, from the mechanical perfection under the car to the modern amenities inside the cabin. This is still an SUV model for those who love driving, appreciate green technology and want a durable, standard product from the Japanese brand.
