Control Resonant officially announced, launching in 2026 – Game News
At The Game Awards event, Remedy Entertainment was officially announced Control Resonantthe sequel to the famous supernatural action game Control. This is not too surprising information, because more than a week ago, Remedy registered the copyright for the name of this game.
According to information from the developer, the game is expected to release in 2026 on many platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), and expand to Mac through Steam and App Store.
Like the previous game, Control Resonant continues to be co-financed and co-produced by Annapurna Pictures, marking the next step in the strategic partnership between Annapurna and Remedy Entertainment. This combination has brought many projects rich in art and content depth, and Control Resonant is expected to continue that spirit on a larger scale.
The biggest change in Control Resonant lies in the main character. Instead of Jesse Faden as in the first part, the player will play Dylan Faden, Jesse’s younger brother – a character who has left many mysteries and question marks in Control. This time, Dylan becomes the center of the story, with his journey of self-discovery, strength, and psychological obsessions tied to his tumultuous past.
The setting of Control Resonant is set in Manhattan, but it is not a familiar city in real life. Remedy describes Manhattan in the game as a vast, alien world, where an invading cosmic force is distorting reality, breaking the laws of nature and distorting both space and gravity. The city is restructured into a geo-physical nightmare, where everything constantly changes and challenges the player’s perception.
During his journey, Dylan will not only move through “perception-bending” areas, but also go deep into a metaphysical space – a place that directly reflects his unstable mind. Gameplay is built around harnessing and mastering Dylan’s powers, allowing players to make choices that influence how the powers manifest and develop through an in-depth progression system.
In terms of combat, Control Resonant continues to promote Remedy’s unique strengths. Players will have to confront constantly changing threats, take advantage of the surrounding environment, unleash elemental abilities, and use a transforming melee weapon called the Aberrant – a symbol of Dylan’s raw and unstable power.
The game is directed by Mikael Kasurinen, a veteran of Remedy, who has been with the studio since the early 2000s. Sharing about the project, Kasurinen said Control Resonant will expand this supernatural action RPG series into a larger “reality distortion playground”, where choices, power and consequences are closely intertwined. He also emphasized that players do not need to have experienced Control before to easily access the new part.
According to Remedy, Control Resonant is their most ambitious project to date, with a clearly enhanced scale, depth of combat, exploration and storytelling. The studio expects players to truly “get lost” in the strange world they are creating.
