After the trial version of Onimusha: Way of the Sword released on PC and consoles, some players believe that the current experience is not challenging enough. In response to this feedback, Capcom officially explained the design direction of the demo Onimusha Way of the Sword.

In a video posted on the brand’s official twitter channel Onimushaproducer Akihito Kadowaki said the development team took note of comments that the demo was quite easy compared to expectations.

“Thank you everyone for playing the demo of Onimusha: Way of the Sword.”

“We received feedback that the demo felt a bit too easy for some players.”

According to Kadowaki, this partly comes from the way Capcom built the content for the trial.

Capcom explains that the demo of Onimusha Way of the Sword represents only a small part of the early stages of the plot.

Besides, the development team wants players to have the opportunity to experience many different fighting abilities of the main character Musashi right in the demo. Therefore, they proactively equipped the character with some skills that only appear at the end of the game.

“First of all, the demo is just a small part of the early stages of the story.”

“We really wanted players to experience Musashi’s various actions and skills, so we intentionally equipped him with some late-game skills.”

“For that reason, some players may feel the game lacks challenge.”

Possessing strong skills early helps players easily get used to the combat system, but at the same time also reduces the overall difficulty of the demo significantly.

Kadowaki affirmed that fans do not need to worry too much about the difficulty of the complete version.

According to him, both the boss battles and regular Genma enemies in the official release will provide a much greater challenge than what players are experiencing in the demo.

“Rest assured that in the finished version, both bosses and regular Genma will fight much more fiercely.”

“Look forward to the challenges in the full version of the game.”

Capcom also revealed Onimusha Way of the Sword demo has surpassed one million downloads since its release.

This is considered a positive signal for the brand’s comeback Onimushamarks the series’ first official sequel since the PlayStation 2 era.
