BOMBANANA! What is that?

In each round of BOMBANANA, three people will be put in a truck with a bomb, multiple puzzle modules, a timer, and a limit of how many times you can go wrong before everything explodes. The team’s mission is to complete all modules before the countdown timer reaches zero.

The special thing is that no player can defuse the bomb themselves. Necessary information is divided equally between three different roles and communication is the core challenge. This is a game more about communication than solving puzzles, because the puzzles are relatively simple, while misunderstanding information is the main cause of failure.

The role of the three monkeys

Each person will take on a unique role and each role is limited in a different way.

• Blind Monkey: The only person who can directly manipulate the bomb. However, this character cannot see colors or screens, can only perceive things through touch and shape. This is also the person who reads the Braille symbols on the bomb.
• Mute Monkey: The person who holds the bomb disposal manual and knows all the answers. However, they cannot talk but can only communicate with gestures and body language.
• Deaf Monkey: Can see the bomb and communicate verbally, but cannot hear teammates. This is the person who observes the bomb, explains the information and guides Blind Monkey to perform the operation.

Keep these limitations in mind, as the entire game is built around them.

Information triangle

The three roles work together through a mechanism called the “information triangle” by the developers.

• Silent Monkey Read the instructions and communicate the answer using gestures Deaf Monkey.
• Deaf Monkey observed those gestures, and also saw the bomb and relayed the information verbally to Blind Monkey.
• Blind Monkey will perform operations directly on the bomb.
